eMotion Picture
eMotion Picture is a free desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux that organizes your personal photo and video library on your own computer, finds and names the people in it, and turns your memories into cinematic videos.
LatestWhat eMotion Picture does
eMotion Picture is a free desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux that helps you make sense of a personal photo and video collection that has grown too large to browse by hand. You point it at the folders where your media already lives, and it builds a searchable library from them.
Everything runs on your own computer. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to us, and we never see them.
Organize your library
Indexes photos and videos from folders you choose, removes duplicates, and reads dates, camera details and locations from each file.
Find the people
Detects faces, groups the same person together, and lets you name them — so you can find every photo of someone in seconds.
Import from where your photos already are
Optionally connect Google Drive or Google Photos to bring existing media into your local library.
Create video memories
Turns a selection of photos and clips into an edited video with music and transitions, which you can optionally publish to YouTube.
How eMotion Picture uses your Google account
Signing in with Google is used to identify your account within the application. From your Google profile the app receives your name, email address and account identifier, and stores them on your own computer. Your email address and Google account identifier are also registered with our licensing service, which is how the application knows which features your account is entitled to. That record never includes your photos, videos, or anything derived from them — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is sent and kept.
Connecting Google Drive, Google Photos or YouTube is entirely optional and is only ever started by you:
| Permission requested | Why eMotion Picture asks for it |
|---|---|
openiduserinfo.emailuserinfo.profile |
To sign you in and identify your account inside the application. Your name, email address and Google account identifier are stored in the app's database on your own computer; your email address and account identifier are also held by our licensing service to establish what your account is entitled to. |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive |
Only if you connect Google Drive. Lets the app read photos and videos from your Drive so it can import them into your local library, and remove items from Drive when you explicitly ask it to. |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube |
Only if you connect YouTube. Lets the app upload a video you created with it, at the moment you choose to publish that video. |
| Google Photos | Connecting Google Photos uses only the sign-in permissions in the first row. No additional Google Photos data permission is requested. |
Each optional connection is started only by you, from inside the application, and can be disconnected at any time. You can also revoke the application's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Download
Free to download and use. No account is required to download the application or to read this page. The first time you open the application it asks you to create an account on your own computer — either a local username and password, which works without a network connection, or Sign in with Google.
